Aim:

We are trying to figure out if the chosen liquids are Alkaline, Neutral or Acid. 

Method:

First we got in a group of 3 or 4, then we got 5 test tubes and a test rack. After that we got some liquids in it including Vinegar, Sprite, Baking Soda, Sodium Hydroxide and Hydrochloric Acid. After that we put Red Cabbage Indicator in each and see the colors change. Yellow is not that strong acid and red is very strong acid. Every test tube turned red except for Sodium hydroxide.

Cats are better than dogs.

Today I am sharing with you my writing about why 'Cats are better than dogs'. Here is my persuasive writing.

Do you like you cat snuggling up to you? Dogs never stay still, you’re never gonna get the same enjoyment with dogs. If you're wanting a cat you can get a cat for $200 at the SPCA but dogs can be as much as $6,000 for a Siberian husky! They are really messy and hard to keep clean. Dogs love getting wet and muddy and that leads to taking a bath. With cats they keep themselves clean and stay away from mess. This is why cats are better than dogs.

Have you ever seen a dog running around? See a dog running to the door as you turn the handle. Dogs will use all their energy then want to play again and will use all your time. When your trying to sleep they want to play catch. When you're trying to make something they knock it over. That’s an explanation for why dogs can’t stay still.

Dogs on it own is very expensive and if you add all it’s needs together it’s very expensive. Dog food is expensive than all of the dog food and dog toys together is a lot of money. When you get a dog you take it to the vet and get it some shots and that can be really expensive. You need a lot more like beds, leashes, collars and more. That’s why dogs are hard to keep cheap!

Dogs love mud and getting all dirty. If you take dogs on walks and they see water they are gonna jump in or at least try too. If you leave your door open the dog will probably run in and get muddy all over your floors and everything it touches. It can get all dirty and you wash it and then it gets dirty again. 

So now you can see why cats are better than dogs because cats are cleaner than dogs, dogs never stay still and always moving, dogs are expensive. That’s why I’m sure having a cute little cat is better than having a dog.

Gummy Bear Osmosis

Aim:

I want to find out what happens to Gummy Bears when we put them into different solutions.

Prediction:

I predict that they will dissolve into the solutions.

Method:

Equipment

• 4x Gummy Bears of the same colour 
• 2x petri dishes
• Paper towls
• Maker pen
• Water
• Sugar water
• Salt water
• Electronic balance
• Beaker
• Measuring Cylinder

Instructions:

1. Get your equipment.

2. Put on your safety glasses.

3. Using the marker pen, write the name of the condition on the petri dish. DRY, WATER, SALTWATER, SUGERWATER.

4. Weigh the Gummy Bear and write on the petri dish.

5. Measure 40mL of the solution and pour it into the petri dish

Discussion:

1. Water got sucked up the most out of all the gummy bears. 

2. The dry gummy bear lost 0-11 grams over a week

3. The sugar water diffused faster than the salt water

Diffusion is the movement of a substance from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. Diffusion happens in liquids and gases because their particles move randomly from place to place. Diffusion is an important process for living things; it is how substances move in and out of cells.

Body Percussion!

Today I am sharing with you my recent work with Ms Costello and Miss Bankroft's class. I am in a group with Freya and Malama. First we had to pick a group and then find somethings we could use for the body percussion. We chose a abacus, beanbags and jandals. After that we went on the field and started finding a beat we could do. It started off with me starting with the abacus slowly swishing it side to side. Soon after Freya joined in with the beanbags, following with Malama with the jandals. Here is my work:

Superhero's

Here is a bit about my recent work

A superhero is a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. I made slides about 6 sporting heroes. They were Chealsea Bremner, Ryan Nelson, Maria Tutia, Israel Adesanya, Anthony Davis and Lydia Ko. I also made some slides about a local hero who achieved his own building career and even got a figure of him made in Christchurch. We read about a musical group called crowded house. They were said to be heroes for one day! When they performed in Christchurch recently. We discussed the meaning of ‘hero worship’. The hero I worship is my sister Sam because she actually saved my life. Here are some of the Earthquake heroes I researched: George Piper, Lucas Perelini. Andrea Robinson, Alison Gallant, Ashley M Vickers, Blair Corkman, Canterbury District Health board, Chris Cole and the Airforce Museum. I also wrote about a superhero of my choice about a random person. My Alias was mind reading. Here is my story: Jeff starts his day by waking up at noon and making coffee, then sending Snapchats to his close friends. After that he looks out on his balcony and sees couples and goes back inside and decides to listen to drivers license and then got a call that people were in trouble. He gets ready and gets more ice coffee and then goes and saves the day. That’s a day with Jeff!
