Using a Bunsen Burner!

 Kia Ora,

Today I am sharing with you my experience today from using a Bunsen Burner. Today me Malama and Canada got into a group. I had the task of holding the test tube over the flame. When it got bubbly I poured it into the water. Here is some of the rules and more.

Aim: To demonstrate how to heat a liquid inside a test tube.

Equipment: Bunsen Burner, Heatproof mat, lighter, test tube, test tongs and safety glasses.

Method:

1.  Light the Bunsen Burner.

2. Fill your test tube to approximately 5.ml water.

3. Turn the collar at the Bunsen Burner so it is a blue flame.

4. Holding the test tube with test tongs, tilt the test tube on a 4 degree angle and not place bottom of the test tube into the flames. Be sure that the mouth of the test tube is not pointing towards people.

5. Gently wave the test tube in and out of the flame. Remember you are trying to heat the liquid gently.

6. Once the water starts to bubble gently, take it away from the flame. Carefully pour the hot water in the sink.

RAW RAW robot!

 Kia Ora,

This fine evening/ morning I am sharing with you my ideas for my robot. In class we were looking at inventions that changed the world but then the teacher asked us to make our own invention for the future with a whole idea and we had some questions. We had problems and Solutions that we came up with together. My idea was that there was a big robot that go's into polluted beaches and waters and picks up all the rubbish but scares the sea animals away with a noise hat scares them. The rubbish would come in and go into a room that has fire proof everything, It lets fire out and burns the rubbish and then it turns to ash and goes into a big room that stores it. Here is some of the questions and my answers:

  1. The robot use is to go in the ocean and collect all rubbish

  2. It's made out of iron and strong glass to look out from RAW RAW's eyes and they are in the headquarters on land close to where RAW RAW is working.

  3. Someone is controlling RAW RAW’s every move and gets the rubbish

  4. It charges when it is not moving and when the rubbish comes in it goes to a special room where it burns the rubbish. So the fire doesn't get out, there are special walls that fire cant burn.

  5. It would be used in the polluted oceans and then moves along and gets more and more rubbish

Music

 Kia Ora,

Today I am sharing with you the songs I like for music.

1. Breathin Ariana Grande

I like Breathin by Ariana Grande because it's kinda a vibe and I like all her songs. I like the lyrics and the beat of the song. I think it's one of her best songs. I love the music video and her outfits.

2. Rude Boy Rihanna

I like rude boy cause the beat and the start of the song is just great. I wish she did a music video because she's really good at them. I like the lyrics and how you just vibe with the music. It is really old but still makes you dance.=

3. Toxic Britney Spears cause you always need a little Brit moment.

I love Britney Spears and I love the song toxic. I swear when I was like 4 I was singing that like a freak but I love the beat and the music video. I like the lyrics and the middle bit. Again it is an old song but I love it. The music video is fire.

That's it for today. Have a amazing day! Comment if you want.

COMPETITIVE ATHLETICS

 Kia Ora,

Today I am sharing with you my schools athletics. We have been doing high jump, long jump, sprints, relay, 60m, 100m, shot-put and discus. I am a very fast runner so I of course did 100m and 60m sprints and relay. I am a very sporty girl so I love everything I've done so far. my favourite is definitely relay because I love competing against people. Last year I actually came first for going against all the year 6 girls.

I picked competitive with my bestie Lama. We are both doing 60m, 100m, shot-put, discus and I'm doing long jump and she's doing high jump. I've done all the activities before and I really enjoy the challenge in 100m. I want to improve my running to be faster even tho people say I'm fast enough I wanna try harder and not be 3 fastest but maybe 2. Tomorrow is the day I'm competing cross your fingers!

Hands on Fire!

 Kia Ora,

Aim:

Today I'm going to SAFELY light my hands on fire.

Before we do this activity safely we need to be aware of the safety features.

Activity" In pairs you need to come up with a list of 5 safety items that need to be considered before lighting my hand on fire.

Safety Glasses

Covered shoes

Fire extinguisher

Tie your hair back

Put water on your hands

Instructions:

1. Collect your equipment.

2. Put some water into the tray.

3. Squirt some detergent into the water.

4. Put on your safety glasses.

5. Tie up any long hair.

6. Take off any jewellery.

7. Wet your hands, wrists and more.

8. Bubble the gas into the water.

9. Scoop the bubbles but not the water.

10. Hold the bubbles in from of your face with your arms locked.

I saw myself washing my hands and picking up a big bit of the bubbles and him lighting it on fire and the big flame went up and I put it away.

I felt nervous cause people were saying they got hurt but when I did it it didn't hurt and it was fun and I would do it again.

I heard people screaming as the fire came and people saying lets go to people.

I smelled the awful gross smell of the gas going in the water and the burnt smell of the fire

How cars changed New Zealand

 Kia Ora,

Today I am giving you something new to read. Today is about how cars changed New Zealand from the 19th of  February 1898.  Ages ago cars first came to New Zealand and here is some information about it.

There was this little car there and the owner William decided to name it Lightning. It was smaller than the other cars and could only go 16 kilometres an hour but the other bigger cars could go up to 50 kilometres an hour! He wanted to show everyone how good he was at driving so he took the mayor for a ride, all was going good until he crashed into a fence. The mayor hurt his nose and everyone was in shock because they just witnessed New Zealand’s first car crash.

+

Cars made it easier to carry heavy things.

Cars give us shelter from weather while driving

Cars help us travel long distances

Cars help us get to places more quicker

-

In New Zealand hundreds of people are killed or hurt badly in car crashes every year

Cars can make us lazy. We stop walking and cycling and become and unhealthy and unfit.

Some cars can be expensive to run and maintain.

Exhaust fumes from some cars can pollute the air

If there are more cars we need to build more roads.

It was an article and the maker of the book is Bronwen Wall.

The point of the article was to teach you about when New Zealand first got cars and car accidents that happened and more.
