Chromatography

 Kia Ora,


Aim: To separate colours by using the process of chromatography.

Definition: Chromatography is a method of separating out materials from a mixture.


Materials;

1. Felt pen

2. Chromatography paper

3. Test tubes

4. Water

5. Test tube rack


Process:

Step 1: Get in a group of 5/6

Step 2: In your group get different coloured felt pens and some chromatography paper

Step 3: Colour a dot on the bottom of the special chromatography paper strip 

Step 4: After that fill it up with a bit of water and let it sit and see that the colour will rise up.

Conclusion:

What coloured changed the most? Canada's one changed the most cause her colour was purple and it went to blue.

How many new colours could you see? Blue, Purple, Pink, Red, Orange, green. 

Which colour travelled the furthest? Canada's went the furthest
