Making Hokey Pokey

Kia Ora,

Aim: To make hokey pokey using sugar, golden syrup and baking soda.

When the sugar and golden syrup combine what the baking soda it froths and makes carbon dioxide gas. This is why the hokey pokey has bubbles.

 Materials:

1. 2 Tablespoons Golden Syrup

2. 4 Tablespoons sugar

3. 1 Heaped teaspoon of baking soda

4. Pot

5. Tablespoons and teaspoons

6. Bunsen burner

7. Grease proof paper

Method

1. Put 4 teaspoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of golden syrup in a saucepan and melt.

2. Bring to the boil and simmer gently for 5 minutes.

3. Add baking soda and stir vigorously

4. Put the hokey pokey on a piece of grease proof paper to cool.

The more the sugar syrup is cooked the browner it becomes. If it is left cooking for to long your hokey pokey becomes burnt.

Explanation:

1. Why do we stir it? We stir it to make sure the sugar and baking soda doesn't get all clumpy.

2. Explain why the hokey pokey rises and has bubbles? It has bubbles because it has carbon dioxide.

3. What gas is made by the baking soda? Carbon dioxide.

Diary of a Wild boy

 Kia Ora,

Today I am sharing with you some information about this awesome book Diary of a Wild boy

  • Brando was bored in life and needed to turn it around so he set a mission to walk around the coastline of New Zealand

  • He brought with him a hunting knife, sleeping bag, water and food, tent and more essentials.

  • He spent 600 days walking around the coastline.

  • While the big walk he ran out of food and hunted pigs and cows and other wild animals.

  • While he was on the walk he was hungry and saw 3 pigs. He charged at them with his hunting knife and 2 got away and one he caught. The pig squealed and Brando tied the pig up not knowing what to do. He went back to get his hunting knife and on the way he locked eyes with the pigs mother. The mother pig ran at him, Brando climbed into a tree remembering the advice his uncle told him. "If you're ever chased by a pig climb a tree" He jumped off the tree onto the pig and wrestled it until it got worn out and he killed them.

  • He walked to Kahurangi Coast and said it was his favourite part of his walk. They're was thousands and thousands of nikau palms, limestone cliffs which he described as giant cheese graters. They're were also birds, animals and seafood.

  • Brando was walking around Canterbury coast which is just a big cliff and on the 4th day he was met by a sheep which had fallen onto the beach. She was stuck tired and hungry so Brando hand fed her some grass and named her Bettie. He helped her into a sheep pen.

  • After the huge 600 day walk he felt happier in his life and saw everything different.

 Kia Ora,

Today I am sharing with you my lockdown experience in 5 sentences. Here it is: It was very boring and I had no friends. I learned how to cook but also nearly burnt down the house. Sophie Pascoe

 Kia Ora,

Today I am sharing with you my work and some fun things about New Zealand's most successful paralympian Sophie Pascoe! She lost her leg in an lawnmower accident and had to get her leg removed. That didn't stop her and she still did swimming and did really well and got into the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Here is my work:

Sophie Pascoe participated in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. She lost her leg on the 23 September 1995 from her dad accidentally running over her leg with their lawnmower and because of that he leg was amputated under the knee. She won 2 gold 1 for silver and one for bronze and she won the world record while taking her total tally to 15 Paralympic medals. This success has now made Sophie the most decorated New Zealand Paralympic ever!

Just one wheel

 Kia Ora,

Today I am sharing with you what I've been doing for Hurumanu 3 with Miss Hastie. I had to read  just one wheel and had to write about how I feel about it, a summary and 3 questions to the reading. Don't be offended this is my opinion.

My opinion to this is: Why did they choose to learn how to ride a one legged bike like that is a weird choose and I wouldn't have done it.
Summary: So there is a school that got inspired from these 2 olympic unicycle world champions and so they’re teacher introduced them to the unicycle because his grandchild loved it and he thought they would to. They practised on and ended up loving it. He helped them and explained the best ways to do it. The students were allowed to bring the unicycles home and practice more. There was this student that kept falling off but then when he brought it home he was able to ride it.
Questions: 1. Did the teacher know how to ride it? 2. How long did you learn how to ride a unicycle? 3. Was there a pro that still does it to this day?
Thank you for looking at my blog. Have a great day you beautiful person. Comment if you want

3. Pour the cabbage water through a paper towel into a beaker. The dark purple liquid in the jar is the pH indicator liquid.

4. Suck up the indicator into a pipette.

5. Use the cabbage indicator to test the acidity of the different household liquids by slowly putting a drop at a time in the test tube.
